Though VCD stands for Video Compact Disk, it means bigger for people of Assam. It's because of the immense popularity of kind of short films which were releasing in VCD format all over Assam. Within a very short period of time, those films were succeeded in forming a industry and even became a threat to the feature films aiming to big screen. It is noteworthy that we had time when 150-200 vcd films were being made in all over the state. Some fraction of filmmakers starting patronizing that format and it was a biggest obstacle for big screen films. But the situation has been changed now as that booming market of vcd films is no more in existence.
